Overview

The Senior Buyer Planner plays a critical role in ensuring high levels of customer service, material availability, supplier performance, and warehouse execution to support business objectives. The Senior Buyer Planner works closely with sales, service, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to align materials planning with production schedules, drive supplier performance improvements, and ensure on-time delivery to customers.

Responsibilities

 

  • Own the development, execution, and continuous improvement of cycle count procedures to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate supplier relationships with focus on delivery, cost competitiveness, and quality performance.
  • Partner with Quality to monitor supplier metrics, resolve non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive supplier improvement initiatives that strengthen reliability while reducing both cost and risk across the supply chain.
  • Administer safety stock and stock programs aligned with Sales and Materials strategies.
  • Develop strategies to ensure material availability that meet production and delivery requirements.
  • Assist in the management of ERP system parameters, workflows, and business rules within to align with planning, purchasing, and warehouse key performance indicators.
  • Actively represent Materials in New Product Development (NPD) projects, ensuring supplier readiness and timely material availability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or production.
  • Drive continuous improvements in quality, delivery, and cost outcomes across suppliers and warehouse operations.
  • Train and support Buyer Planners and warehouse staff to strengthen team capabilities and succession readiness.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning, buying, or supply chain roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Experience developing supplier strategies and driving performance improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • APICS / CPIM or related supply chain certification.
  • Experience with SIOP processes and advanced inventory management practices.
  • Demonstrated success in New Product Development support.
  • Prior exposure to engineered-to-order (ETO) or capital equipment manufacturing.
  • Fluent in Spanish
