Overview

The Golf Regional Manager is responsible for profitably growing product and service sales for use in golf industry applications. Working closely with an assigned team of District Golf Sales Managers and Pump Sales Manager, this role will assess the overall market, identify opportunities for sales and market growth, establish and build exceptional relationships with key influencers, develop business proposals, educate and successfully sell customized irrigation systems and pump stations to new and existing golf courses. 

 

This position is 100% remote. Must reside in North Carolina, Florida, or Georgia to be considered.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead, manage and support the Eastern Sales Team in the region to exceed sales goals.
  2. Maintain contact and enhance relationships with major accounts and key industry contacts in the region.
  3. Responsible for the management of business development, sales and services in the assigned territory, including the recruiting, selection, development, and training of the Sales Team.
  4. Primary management contact for Golf distributors. Develop and execute plans for distribution including development, improvement and recruitment of distributors. Manage all aspects of Rain Bird’s relationship with distribution.
  5. Manage the sales and marketing plan implementation.
  6. Responsible for the development and execution of promotional programs that will effectively and efficiently increase sales in each District.
  7. Gather market intelligence and maintain high visibility on competitive activities.
  8. Prepare regular and special sales reports as assigned, including Monthly Reports, Annual Sales Plans, etc. coordinated with the Sales Team.
  9. Coach and mentor Sales Team as needed.
  10. Ensure that the region is operationally successful and ensure that the sales growth targets and initiatives are met.
  11. Plan participation in and attend industry trade shows as required
  12. Confer with the Division Managers on changes and improvements in company policy.
  13. Manage the Demand Plan for the market.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

 

The Golf Regional Manager’s sales team operates as “solution-based” sales representatives, capable of analyzing irrigation “system” designs, Rain Bird products, finance options and after-sales technical support packages to course owners, greens committees, consultants, architects, contractors, developers and superintendents. 

 

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree
  • 7-10 years successful sales experience with progressive sales management responsibilities.
  • Experience with independent distribution
  • Proven track record in negotiating large, long-lead time, project-based business deals
  • Sales, business development, regional management and supervision experience.
  • Proven success in managing a team of sales professionals with professional sales management practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to achieve results individually and through team management
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and commonly used business software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willing to live in assigned territory while traveling extensively (+50%)

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA degree
  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience.
  • Previous experience in the Golf irrigation industry with knowledge of Golf products and applications, distribution channels and customers, and the Rain Bird organization
