The Production Manager is responsible for all production activities in Systems Manufacturing.  The Production Manager ensures the department is properly staffed and equipped to manufacture, test and ship pump and filter stations according to the production schedule and promises made to customers.


The Production Manager is also responsible for maintaining the highest level of safety and quality of workmanship in all production areas.  Duties include:


  1. Ensuring proper staffing for all production areas.
  2. Working with Buyer/Planners to identify and eliminate production bottlenecks before they occur.
  3. Recruiting and hiring skilled workers for permanent and temporary positions.
  4. Maintaining all Safety, Quality and Equipment Maintenance records.
  5. Supervising and coaching assistant production managers.
  6. Operating in accordance with all Rain Bird safety, employment, personnel and manufacturing policies.
  7. Identifying areas for improvement in productivity and cost reduction, and leading projects to bring ideas to reality.
  8. Collaborating with the Engineering Supervisor to define and implement product improvements.
  9. Participating in special project teams.
  10. Managing costs to successfully meet financial plans and continuously improve overall profitability.
  11. Any additional duties assigned by the General Manager.





  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in a technical field like engineering or industrial management).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Successful track record of achievement
  • Ability to learn quickly and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Experience managing hourly personnel (preferably with varying seasonal needs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills,
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Team oriented individual.




  • Experience with large capital equipment manufacturing
  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
  • Proven ability to successfully launch new products
  • Lean manufacturing or Lean six sigma experience.
